Sweet Tooth

On the same day that we went on the steam train, we visited a tiny candy store called Mr. Simms. It was a WONDERLAND. (Well, for a kid.) There was a pick and mix counter, a window display, and an enormous display in the middle of the store. Besides that, ALL OF THE WALLS WERE SHELVES FULL OF CANDY.

Also, in the photo above, the American flags show the shelves of “American candy”. Kind of funny! The employees were very friendly, and while we talked they introduced us to “lucky tatties”. (Scotranslate: potatoes.) Lucky tatties are not actually made of potatoes, but simply a hard candy covered in cinnamon.

There isn’t much else to say about the store, except this was the first time I tried peppermint bullseyes. Also, this is probably the shortest post I will ever write.

Mr. Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe is to Scotland as Hershey’s is to America. The web site lists hundreds of candies with clever names.
